This sticky forum topic is provided for WGA members to share their recommendations regarding good places to eat in this region.

When you make a recommendation, please provide as much information as you can. At a minimum we need the name of the restaurant, type of food served, and the city/town where it is located. We are all geocachers, so the coordinates of the establishment would also be helpful. Smile

If there is a need to edit or delete your recommendation at a future date, just post a note in this topic and one of our forum admins will take care of making the change.

Thanks in advance for your recommendations!

This place is TRADITION for me, whenever we come to the Dells area:

The Log Cabin Family Restaurant
1215 8th Street, Baraboo, WI 53913-1805
Phone: 608-356-8245

N 43° 28.492
W 089° 43.256

The name says it all. Backwoods Log cabin, right in town. Great food at reasonable prices. Homemade Pies....99 cents a slice or buy a whole pie to take home!!

Is Wautoma in this geographic area?

If so, I recommend The Farmer's Market on the corners of Hwy 21 and Hwy 22. Open seasonally - but an extensive menu that is delicious and reasonable. (not to mention you can get some fresh produce, antiques, etc. after you eat)

We just ate there on Sunday! Good variety on the menu, too. Smile We like the antique store on the east end better!

Not one to do much posting of recommendations, but while meeting an “old” high school buddy and cruising through downtown Beaver Dam, we found a wonderful dining piece of “Americana”. With a very plain front, Chili John’s is a wonderful, colorful eatery operated by the third generation at the same location (N43* 27.368 W088* 50.429) since 1928. The food is great, prices are good, and Chili John is a delightful character, masterful at slinging both hash and comments on most topics.

If you stop by, note that hours of operation are from 5 AM til 2 PM Monday thru Saturday, and mention that “the geocaching Hotdogs” sent you. You'll enjoy your visit.
