congrats cj, I know that takes severe discipline.

One of the neighborhood kids(not our frequent visitor) took a tumble on a bike today. My kids will wear their helmets without complaint for a few weeks. I hope the kid is ok......i know head wounds bleed, but it did not look good. They have not returned from the hospital 5 hours later. I don't know them well, but i am concerned.

That is why I 99.99% of the time wear a helmet. That should be a 100% but there are times when riding in the driveway i don't. You never know when something is going to jump out and wack you to the ground. I know for a fact that wearing a helmet has saved my life several times. When I slammed into a telephone pole last fall if I hadn't had a helmet on I have a feeling I might have not walked away from it. When I'm racing in the Wisconsin Off Road Series (WORS) we riders are required to wear a helmet at all times when riding. They can DQ you for not. Last year I got yelled at for not wearing one.

Now are helmets going to prevent injuries 100% NO but they usually are less severe. I just paid $200 for a new one but could have easily gotten the $40 one. Both helmets are rated the same so if i took the same fall in each the same outcome should happen. Everytime I pass a parent with a young child not wearing a helmet I just shake my head. You bought a bike why not invest in a helmet to. Same goes with all the kids that think not buckling it. That helmet will fly off when they hit the ground.

And now onto another bike related topic. There is a wrong and a RIGHT side of the road to ride on. If I am able to run you over while I'm pedaling on the correct side your on the wrong side of the road.

And now I return you to your regularly scheduled useless drivel.

Yesterday I was talking to Jim of JimandLinda fame at the Cabela's grand opening. The discussion of the EAA came up and we were both hoping not to see any crashes this year.

And yet, a crash happens today at the grounds and the event didn't even start yet. Hopefully the rest of the event goes off without a hitch.

Hope it was still fun, Rod. I'm glad to be home now and sorry I missed the whole thing.

No, this time I got stung. Reaching into a lamppost skirt and there was a wasp nest in it. Ouch!

We visited her today. She had a cut below her chin so deep that they had to have her go under a general to surgically repair it. Her head wound was not as severe only requiring a few stitches. She was riding her brothers bike that was too big for her. She slipped off the pedals puncturing herself with the hand brake, falling, then hitting her head on the pavement. Her dad has had to stop her twice from riding her own bike today though. Seems like she is going to be okay.
