While I plowed the driveway, Betty shoveled the walk. I think that is the first time in the 18 years that we've lived here that she helped with craphas removal

Becky, is the message still in your outbox?

No Pete it isn't in my outbox. I looked in my sent box too & it isn't there either. I sent hitman a message the other day about the same thing (putting an image in a post) & that message wasn't in the sent box either.

It'd be great if Kildayan would be out there shoveling while I plow the driveway. I can't help feeling just a bit resentful of her chicken coops as I'm shoveling paths to them afterwards.

Oh well, she worked today and the eggs taste awesome so I guess I can't really complain.

Yet, cellular phones break up and fly right through them in hundreds of little pieces. Not recently, it happened a few years ago. I haven't used my blower in two years. Just has not been enough of the craphas.

I ran mine onto a trailer tongue a few years back. The sheer pins broke once the main auger was wedged firmly onto the tongue. I had to tip the blower completely upside down to break it loose. Fired right back up, but the main shaft got bent 1/4" which gave it a 1/2" total travel (rattled like $%^& when I engaged the auger). $225 ($50 in parts and $175 in "know how" from the local dealer) later all was good again.

lol. Yeah, I assumed that was it. When I did a google search just to make absolutely sure it wasn't some word in another language for snow, that was the first link.

My attempt at levity obviously failed. Smile

But it does make a good "urban legend" with just enough truth in it (guy did exist in 1901) to eventually have people swearing its true.

I thought that was funny stuff!

Took me a lot of page viewing to get the joke the 1st time though.

But this is what we find as a conundrum; pronunciation. Does one pronounce it with recognition of how it came about, or just cuz they wish to: as in crap-haz?

Or do they pronounce it as if a new word encountered for the first time, using some of the crazy quirks of the English language: Craf isssssss, or cra-fiz.

Or another way?

Always mentally said it the second way, but then found that folks from other parts of the state, or outside our heads, or out of their minds, said it differently.

How do you speak this word?

Anyway, its here!
Shocked Smile

Is it 'a craphas fallen'? Or 'an craphas fallen'?

I'd hate to go back and see that the whole shabang has been incorrect these many years!

Perhaps the BOD should add this to the Agenda. Confused

We don't have craphas here. Thick, thick ice. That does not yield easily to a shovel.
