Is anyone else going? Myself, Bikermom1964 ( my mom ) and Inbedby10 ( my grandma) Just booked our trip. Leaving Wednesday the 9th and returning Sunday the 13th. Should be fun. We are doing the ET trail one day, but only going to spend one day on it. Any suggestions for caches? This will be my first time out there, but this is strictly a geocaching trip Smile

I've been out there quite often so I like to get out of the city occasionally. Mount Charleston is a really nice area to go. Great hiking in my opinion. There are some good caches on the way to some of the waterfalls. GCW6JR is one of them. Since I was last out there there are caches in the shape of the Packers G just off Hwy 157/Kyle Canyon Road which is on the way to Mount Charleston.

A special memory GCQ596 is a different type of caching experience.

I am still thinking about going, but nothing planned yet.

Since you're going to Las Vegas for caching I've got three must-see suggestions for you.

1. There is a popular virtual cache at the Welcome to Las Vegas sign GC729A (543 favorites); that's a great one to do if you have a camera along. There's a micro also located within 300 feet. You could also sort the caches in that area by number of favorite points and focus on some of those. There are many with over 50 favorites. But that welcome sign has been iconic to the city for decades.

2. Since you're doing part of the E.T. Highway, E.T.-0001 GC2ZK7J (557 favorites) is a must-do. It's LOADED with travel bugs, and is near an alien that stands 30 or 40 feet tall. Very fun. The alien is right outside of an alien-themed gift store that is closed on Mondays. There's also another cache within 15' of the store entrance called Alien0071 so you could grab that one while you're at it.

3. QUARK'S GC2THQN (232 favorites) This is I think the only restaurant/giftshop you'll find along the way once you leave E.T.-0001. And it's a doozy! The cache is a huge ammo box inside the restaurant; it was loaded with swag and TB's when we were there. You can order their "world-famous" alienburger there like we did (shouldn't that be "other-world famous?"). We traded TBs , bought a whole bunch of baby aliens to use for swag in WI (I have 2 left), and bought an unactivated alien geocoin there as a souvenir. Within 200 feet of Quarks is a virtual with 202 favorites called Groom Mining District, and also a Whereigo with over 100 favorites called E.T. Cache Home. Most of the caches along the E.T. Highway are exceedingly routine, but Quark's with its three different types of caches all in one place is one of the best stops along the way. If you're bringing along TB's or geocoins make sure you save one or two for there!

When we did the E.T. Highway we were only there from afternoon to dusk, so we only did the caches that had lots of favorite points (we did 8 total LOL). You'll have to decide if you want to go for numbers or some of the quality caches along the way. Either way can be fun; hopefully you can do a bit of both and make it far enough along the trail to get as far as Quarks. Like

there is a request on the Quark's cache page from newtongrannie to help out her traveler TB44GWQ which has been stalled at Quark's. maybe if it is still there, you could grab it.

Made from 100% real aliens.

I already emailed her a few hours ago and got it cleared up. The coin is missing, as it was when I was there a few months ago. And she already responded and thanked me for contacting her in the U.K.
