This is a question that comes up year after year and really needs to have some though given by the candidates:

With the number of events the WGA holds or sponsors through the year, what can you bring to the table to see that these events come off well?

looking forward to your comments.
thank you for your time.

Another very good question!

As Wisconsin State Advocate for Leave No Trace, the best thing I can bring to the table for future WGA Events is outdoor ethics education. Rather if its simply handing out geocaching hang tags or manning an info table like I do for the West Bend event, or putting on an awareness session, I feel I can be a huge asset for events that WGA Sponsors by helping us reach or goals that is in our bylaws on promoting CITO's and Leave No Trace.

I enjoy traveling to all corners of Wisconsin to attend the WGA events (and others). We have attended every WGA event over the past 2 years (except the fall CITO, conflicts with Fire Dept Training both years) I enjoy working at the events, I have not yet chaired a event, but am looking forward to the 2013 Picnic that is in the NE quad of the state and tentatively scheduled for Gov Thompson State park.

I can bring good work ethics, quick problem solving when things start to go wrong, and can flip a mean pancake. (one of my favorite jobs at events)

Thanks for the question Pete

Thank you labrat_wr for this question.

I personally cannot stress enough how important it is overall to have all the Board Members participating in both the planning and implementation of the events. It is more than just “showing up” and being there. While it is part of the board members position to meet and greet attendees, that can happen when you step up and handle the registrations, that can happen as you greet people at the group camping site and check them in and that can happen as things are being packed up and put away.

Personally, in my tenure on the Board, I have attended and had a role in all 4 of the camp-outs, the picnic, the West Bend Pancake event as well as attending all Chili Bon-Fire events. I have attended and sold shirts at the LCC event and several CITO’s as well. And, I have led the Geo 101 event at the past several West Bend event while my non-Board member side kick, Gr8 Eyes handled the shirt sales because I could not be in two places at one time. I have to say, it was not for the WGA events, there are some beautiful state parks I would have never known existed in our state. I have also enjoyed meeting and learning from the people I have met along the way.

On a daily basis, I am planning and implementing programs. I bring to the WGA table that knowledge and experience. I have handled the financial side of the events for the past 4 years having a pretty good idea of what supplies have been purchased and the working timeline we need to have to pull off successful events.

As a destroyer sailor I can bring a 'Can Do' attitude.

With my experience in the fire service and more recently in construction as an electrician I can make most things work.

As a leader I hope I can help, those that are willing, work effectively.
