Looking for some help with running a c:geo application and/or the groundspeak caching app on a Android platform (Samsung Galaxy 3S) smartphone.
So here's the thing the apps run great on the cellular network AND when I am on a secured (home) WiFI connection....but when on a public (Free) WiFi can not get c:geo (or GC) apps to connect and run.
So....what's up with that ? Is that the way it is or what?
Thanks in advance for your insight(s).

I run c:geo on my Galaxy II on the 3G. I have to remember to activate the GPS but it seems to work well as long as I have the 3G connection. it does go through periods of not updating well but usually comes around. |

In these situation do have connectivity to browse the internet?
Sometimes on public networks you must agree to terms and conditions to use the network, the apps wont work till this is done. the terms and agreements page will usually pop up when you open up an internet bowser.
If you can browse the internet, I see no reason why the apps wouldn't work. |

What F1rebirds said. I also have a Galaxy S3. Anytime I take it to some place like McDonald's, I open my browser to accept the terms and conditions to use the wi-fi. Once that goes through, I'm free to use any other internet apps on my phone such as USA Today, ESPN Sportscenter, etc. |

Thanks for the feedback. Here's some more info.
I do accept the 'terms of conditions' for the public (unsecured) WiFi and yes I can do the browser stuff (like the news, wiki, sports) but the actual
Android application does not run....the c:geo application is a 'no go' as is the 'official' Geocaching dot com application on the unsecured WiFi.
Both apps will run just fine on the phone data 3G system as well as on my home secured WiFi or work secured WiFi. |

Doubt this will work, but worth a try as your browsers are getting through.
On c geo, go to:
Settings
scroll down to Other Options
click on 'Identify as Android Browser'
Cross Finders
Try again
