new plan or bad idea?

i awoke today with a new plan. i was going to grab my bike and hit the nearest trail. once there i would take a coordinate reading. this would be the base for all coords to come. i headed down the trail, tossing film canisters into the nearest bush every 528 feet without stopping my bike. 19 miles later i was out of canisters and returned home. using mapsource and other programs i then measured off 528 feet from my original coords and proceeded to submit these new caches for posting. 3 days later, i was notified that not 1 of my caches made it through to posting. it seems that each and every one of my cache coordinates is 200 feet from an already posted cache. what luck!!! 5 days later i decided to try one of these power trails myself. i found 5 in a row and then i quit. the first (an easy find) was the same as the second, as the third, as the fourth, as the fifth........etc. BORING!!! guess i'm growing out of the numbers running game. just sayin'.

P.S. would the next cacher through pick up my canisters please

So you want some one to go caching on the trail. Grab the caches(log the real ones and store the "fake ones") sounds cool but my kids are all cached out (except for a next ones which will be our 1000,1001,&1002)

Funny story!

I actually think I might enjoy something like this if there was one in my neighborhood. I actually would approach it in a different way. I like to walk on a fairly regular basis and if it was on a trail I walked, I could see myself grabbing one a day. What a great way to get in a walk on a regular basis and have another goal. Grabbing"A" cache. Leave the FTF to the power cachers...

I wonder if others have thought about this approach or is it just to tempting to grab as many as you can? Never having encountered it in a scenario such as this, I don't know if I could only grab one either.

Maybe if you post it as "Can you cache only one?" Wait! did I just come up with a healthy challenge idea? Probably wouldn't pass review for some reason.

power trails have there place for some. my record is 40 caches in a day (non trail) and i will probably never attempt to break that. i'm just saying that i went to place one cache on a specific trail and couldn't find a spot to place it for 10 miles. packed in like sardines. i gave up. and there is no deviation in the type of hide. 345 caches in a row, all the exact same as the one before it. i would rather see 345 different co's with 345 different hide types. power trails are not my cup of tea i guess. don't get me wrong, i'm not saying i won't do them

Besides, I can already answer this one for you: "I'll do whatever I want, dont tell me what to do, if you don't like them don't look for them, Yada Yada Yada....."

Interesting, I thought it was a joke and judgement of a specific type of cache placement. I didn't realize you actually tried to find a cache placement spot! I have to agree it wouldn't be my cup of tea either but every time I'm in Green Bay and I see that trail that follows the Fox with all those homes that have the trail in their back yard, I think that would be a fun walk in the evening after work if I lived close. Especially the idea of only grabbing one cache a day and using it as a exercise inducement. Another example is the Chippewa River trail in my home town of Eau Claire. The trail didn't exist when I lived in E.C. and while visiting my sister this summer I would walk and bike segments of it each day grabbing a cache here and there.

I also agree it would be nice to see a different type of cache on these trails here and there set up with more variation. The power trails do squeeze out someone coming along with a creative idea for a spot along the area.

Lots of people love these power trails and I can take bits and pieces of them now and then. It's great that there is something for all types of cachers out there.

And for Mr. Beaver (I'm still giggling about that cute little fella...) I ain't afraid of no dead horse, those cachers out there are more afraid of Deaths Door and the gales of November so I don't expect any picketers till summer. By then I'm hiding out in Timber Wolf and Bear country. Shocked

Same here, as far as walking the power trails though that's how I usually do them. Since I have the kids with me, we hit maybe up to a dozen or so at a crack. Takes longer, but the trails are nice so I don't mind visiting more than once.

Post them on Opencaching. Garmin would be thrilled to see the number of open caches go from 2 to 347.
