Just curious which web site others use to find/list caches. |

Has either of the "little guys" done anything? I've tried both but walked away unimpressed. |

I just checked out terracaching for the first time. Or at least I tried to. You can only get as far as the registration page if you don't have an account. I'm not able to tell if they have many caches listed or not. I don't know what their search functions are like, their user interface, their membership numbers; nothing. If you want an account with them, you have to have two or more members sponsor you. But you cannot look up who is a member. But that's OK - I'm very pleased with Groundspeak. |

None of the other services have any numbers that compare to geocaching.com. I think it's admirable that others try to get into cache listing, but with the overwhelming number of caches listed on GC it's really difficult for another service to make much of an impact. |

The only other one we use is the letterboxing sites for those hides. Ditto what averith said. |

I'm not sure who is using TerraCaching, but from what I gather, the biggest percentage of Opencaching users are either fed up with or have been kicked off of GC.
There have been 3 Opencaching caches in the Wausau area. My find on one of them is the only find on any of them. I think this website gets more visits than OC or TC. |

Try clicking on the "All Over The World" link in the first paragraph. It brought up a map of the U.S. Don't know if this is a sample or not but there are very few in Wisconsin. |

Only GC for us,
I have helped some others who were banned from GC to get the info of there caches from GC so they could cross list them on Opencaching. Funny how if you get banned on GC, you can not even archive your own caches, or contact a reviewer to do so. I worked with a Cacher in Kentucky making a PQ of all of his caches, then had to contact a reviewer to archive them all. He then listed them all on OC. |

Looks like most of them in this area are GC caches that have been multiply listed on OC as well. |

Can't say I've used the sites other than GC.com, but it's interesting to look at what's available.
Give it another 5 years with GC.com being pulled in so many different directions and who knows. |

Makes me wonder just what you have to do to get banned... But then that's a topic for another thread so I'll drop it.
Don't want to get banned |

I'm a purist, just geocaching.com for me. |

I'm with Northwoods Tom... wondering why someone gets banned?
I'm not curious enough to explore other sites... my guess is they have little activity from major portion of cachers. I like GC |

From what I've seen people can get banned by harassing others through cache logs and forums, and by repeatedly intentionally violating guidelines. |

I've tried all three. The other two sites are so seldom used that I was able to get most of my FTF's (6) off of them. In fact my first FTF was a virtual Terracache, A Contemplative Stroll, 4138 miles from home that had been listed for 3 months without a find.
People also went to these sites when GC.com started changing rules and dropping cache types. Virtual caches was the big one. |
