What are your caching plans for Memorial Day, May 28th? I thought it would be a great idea if on Memorial Day fellow geocachers would find at least one cache that has a memorial theme. It would be a great way to remember those who paid the ultimate sacrafice for our freedom. If you have found all those type of caches in your area maybe you could hide one with a memorial theme. Of course, if you meet one on your travels thank him or her for their service. I realize in reading some desciptions of caches there are some geocachers who are veterans. THANK YOU!!!.
I am planning to do Wisconsin Veteran Memorial River Walk (GC1G1VD) and take my kids along. |

Wonderful idea!
Last July I was traveling from the Island to Eau Claire and I stopped at Let Freedom Ring! (GC8C0C) just outside of Neillsville, Wisconsin. It had just gotten dark out and I had the place all to myself. It was a very powerful and emotional experience. If you haven't been to this Virtual, it's a must do. |

When we visited the virtual Tom mentions, there was a HUGE event taking place, with veterans from all wars in attendance. It added to the experience to see these fellows from as far back as WWI, in their uniforms, being wheeled about along with the more recent vets of the Gulf War. The stories they must all keep...it would be a wonderful choice for Memorial Day, event or not. |

Wisconsin Veteran Memorial River Walk (GC1G1VD)
If you read back in the logs, you can see that I found that cache with the wife and kids last year on Memorial Day. We had a nice walk and enjoyed the civil war re-enactment camp that was there. The kids were able to get a cannon firing lesson. It was a great experience. No plans yet for this year, but I am sure we will get at least one. |

After stopping at the Titanic Event we headed for home and I stopped at Remembering Friends Virtual. There was a great Memorial Day plaque in the parking lot that tells the story of why we have a Memorial Day. There was a lot of information that I didn't know.
I'll be on a plane heading for home on Monday. My plan is to get the Virtual in Chicago Int Airport. |

On Memorial Day I suggest a visit to Southern Wisconsin Veteran's Memorial Cemetery GC79B7
it's emotional and very humbling. |

I did the Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Riverwalk (GC1G1VD) today. My kids and even my husband came along. It was his first time geocaching. |

I was able to find a cache today on Memorial day. I took a little walk up to GCKPGE here on post. I was surprised to get the day off even though we are still in training. |

I found a Memorial cache on Memorial day at Memorial Park
Ive cleared my area of service caches, but found a memorial cache to the cache owners great grandpa, and by the logs from other cachers he was a well known man, the cache is at the entrance to Memorial park where the road is named after him (Witzke)
