It is an honor to be nominated to run for the WGA BOD again.

For those who do not know me, I will try to fill you in a little about who I am, what I do, and how I feel I can make a difference. Some of this, I can do in this initial post and some will become evident when replies to the questions that you the members ask are posted.

Okay, time to start this off...
Who is Labrat_wr? My name is Peter Quella. I live in Wild Rose, a small town in Waushara county. I am 42 years old, married to Patti and have 4 kids. Two college age boys (Paul and Joel), my 11 year old daughter Erin, and my soon to be 3 year old son Ryan. I have been employed at Wild Rose Community Memorial Hospital for 15+ years and am the Information Technologies support person as well as working in the Laboratory.

I began geocaching in March 2006, with the real obsession starting upon my introduction of my Brother-in Law to the sport in December 2006 during a family get together (yeah, I know, it's my fault ). I tend to cache solo, using the quiet time to gather my thoughts and to meditate, keeping my mind at peace. Enjoying the outdoors has always been a pleasure that I look forward to and in the past year, the ways that has been accomplished have included kayaking, biking, hiking, crawling, creeping, bushwacking, wading, puzzling and searching. Hard to say if there was any time when I did not enjoy being out there trying to find what others have hidden.
While the solo efforts have been many, I have also enjoyed the times when I have joined efforts with others. Getting together with others gives you opportunities to speak on topics that you may not get the chance to talk about under other circumstances. Sometimes the conversations are just the casual things but sometimes can get quite deep in thought. Anyone who thinks that geocachers are just a bunch of tech-geeks with not much to say really need to get out there. Many of the geocachers I have crossed paths with are very well versed and not afraid to converse.
Everyone has a story to tell, all they need is an audience.

How can I make a difference?
Many who work with me know that I do not take things lightly. If someone asks a question, they deserve an answer. I am not one to jump to a decision, I am a fact gatherer. I want as much information as possible to consider before formulating my final opinion or decision. This doesn't mean I am slow to act, I want to be sure that everything is on the table.
Feel free to review the candidates corner 2009 for the questions/answers given there for last years election.

I plan to attend the Names and Faces V on 2/6/10. I would love to meet you there and talk if you wish. Otherwise, please PM or email if you have questions for me. But if you have questions for all the candidates to answer, please post them under the Candidates Corner 2010 forum. Chances are, if you are thinking about a particular issue, you are not alone and others will also benefit from seeing the candidate responses here.

This election is for you, the members. Take the time to be informed about those who you will be voting onto the Board of Directors for they will be the voice of the WGA. It is always a hard decision because the members tend to nominate some excellent people to represent them.
Whomever you choose come election time, will be a good choice.

My best wishes to the other candidates.

Okay, so you say you've seen this post before. Yes you did, back in 2010 but a few things have changed so I will bring you up to speed.

I am still living in Wild Rose, still married to Patti and still have 4 kids. Paul is serving in the US Army, Joel is in college, Erin and Ryan are a little older than the last post, as am I.

I have have had the honor of being the WGA President for the past year and it has been a fulfilling year. Lots of things have happened and there are many things yet to come. 2011 was a little slower year numberwise for my geocache finds total but still respectable. I guess I have had a few other priority things take the limelight. I have in the past two years chaired several of our WGA sponsored events, helped out on others, attended as many events as able, and continue to work on planning future events.
My philosophy of gathering the facts before making decisions still holds true and I have no plans to change that.

As I look at the list of candidates for this years election, I again see that there are no bad choices. It would be an honor to serve with or follow any of these folks. I look forward to giving my ideas on your questions.
