ladybug612 and i started caching in late july. we have been to prairie du chien shortly after that to pick up some of the walking sticks from Cabela's as they were on sale cheap. so we grabbed a few caches while there. in the fall sometime her daughter decided to join and become active as well. not as into it as we are though as she is 13.
for the most part we have stayed in eastern iowa, but we have ventured out a bit. last weekend i met up with a crew in cedar falls, ia to do some hard water island caches. that was fun. i recently moved back to IA from NW MN. so i have much time with the COLD temps. glad they are up there now and it is warmer here. well at times it is warmer here.
thought i would introduce myself quickly.
i have no doubt we will get up here at some point for some caching. at leastmore then we have done so far.
we are casual cachers. more for the sights and history and so on. yes we have done the lpc's and guardrails, but we tend to prefer other kinds.

Welcome! You will find some great advise on great cache sites to visit on the WGA site. (My personal preference is the caches that take you in to the boonies or the historical.)
I have ties to Ely, Minnesota (before I started geocaching) and am looking forward to getting back in to the area to explore again.

i am from iowa, Boone actually. spent 4 yrs in the navy in cali. when i got out i moved with the then wife, now xwife, to thief river falls, mn. spent 18 yrs there. now i am back in iowa.
i had a huge list of caches to do or possibly do while i was up north in early december for about 2 wks. sadly i only hit a few of them. i forgot just how much driving was needed to go from one side of state to the other. was a great trip north though going through the dakota's. got my first virtual on the way north. saw some pretty interesting things.
we found ourselves liking cemetery caches alot. as well as ones that are small or larger. we have done micros and even have had some that the location was worth the effort for this tiny cache.
wish there was more time and money and so on to see more places sooner rather then later.
oh well. its all good.

Welcome!
You may find the Recommended caches section especially helpful if you are planning a trip up to Wisconsin. You can read old threads, and post where you will be if you want additional suggestions.
Happy caching! |

that was the plan with joining. i know some of the iowa ppl head that way, but thought if i was a member i could look and ask myself. so instead of just browsing as a non member of the forum i thought i would join.
in november or so i was browsing and saw the regional section for SW WI and we thought dang it! wished we had known about the burger place in PDC when we were there. so for sure we will back to get more caches and check out that place. off the top of my head i cannot remember it. all i remember is that it is in PDC.
looking last night i was seeing all this talk about waterfall caches. we like those too. living up north i made it to some of the falls up the north shore. pretty!
