I've been using the IL version for the greater Chicago area and it's pretty good also. Slightly different colors / symbols but very accurate as far a roads, parks locations, etc.

I used the OR one when I was out there and it worked great, using the SE US Planimetric one for our summer vacation.

Maps I Love It!

I'm checking out the maps at GPSFile depot and so far they are loadable to my Garmin unit but they don't have the detail I would like. I need to search more.

I'm especially interested in the topo maps and the geocaching.com topo is much more detailed. BUT, here is what I believe might be of more value to a map junkie. http://pricecowi.wgxtreme.com/

Now before you discard this idea because it's for Price county where you don't live, consider this.
1. This is a free property map for the entire county. I also have one for Door county.
2. It's going to take some searching to find your county, but they might be out there.
3. You can see and I.D. property boundaries. (Private vs Public land)
4. They have multiple aerial photos from different years as well as standard maps.
5. No way to load on your gps unit but I print an image and use it in conjunction with my gps.

I plan on using the topo map on my gps unit together with a print out that has greater detail. Consider it, it's only a folded sheet of paper.

I love the topo for Wisconsin they have. It is 100x better than my outdated Mapsource maps and is of much higher quality. Shows most of if not all of the lakes in this state and also when you get up into the northwoods it shows you trails.

Most counties ofer this type of thing. If you Google or Bing or what ever you use to search put in the county name and then GIS i.e. Outagamie GIS. I've used Dunn,Outagamie for placing a few of my caches. I also have a feeling these are what the reviewers use as well when reviewing and publishing caches.

You may have also noticed that it also shows the type of trail and looking at the trailhead, you can see if it's a closed trail for anything but walking (by the barricade symbol). I then use this in conjunction with a county land owners map, and can see if it's private or public land.

Often I notice a building symbol on the public land and then like to check out the site to see if it's an old abandoned structure on public land. The trip in is like walking back in to past history. A great adventure and a possible site for a future geocache.
