*** NOTICE TO CACHE OWNERS ***

Per guidance from Groundspeak, and to align with other reviewers around the planet, if you hide a Multicache, you will now need to also include an Additional Waypoint at the posted coordinates (similar to how you already need to do so for Challenge Caches).

If it's a standard Multicache with something at the posted coordinates that you placed, (e.g. bison tube/magnet/QR code with coordinates to the next stage) then you should select "Stage of a Multicache" as the waypoint type.

If there's nothing at the posted coordinates (e.g. posted coordinates take you to a sign/marker/gravestone/etc. that you pull numbers from to figure out where the next stage is, or if it's an 'offset multi' where the finder gets a distance and compass bearing) then you should select "Question to Answer" as the waypoint type.

If you already own a Multicache, it would be appreciated if you would go in and edit your cache appropriately to add in the waypoint if there isn't one already.

The reason for this is simply as an aid to help distinguish which Multicaches have physical starting points and which have "virtual" ones to make it easier to do proximity tests. (The 528' guideline doesn't apply to virtual stages of Multicaches.)

If I happen to stumble across your multi before you have time to add this waypoint, I will add it for you, but it would be best if you do it yourself. Note that this also applies to letterbox hybrids that act like multis. Finally, if you happen to own any mystery caches which actually are at the listed coordinates (Lock boxes, liar's caches, etc.), please add a waypoint for that cache as well.

Thanks, and if you have any questions, feel free to post them here.

Do you want the waypoint to be visible or hidden? For now, I'm going to leave them visible.

You can choose which you prefer, but I would recommend visible. Otherwise, you may have "helpful" people bugging you to add the waypoint. For those who are wondering the purpose of this, the site is adding new functionality to "hide a cache" screen to show a map marking unavailable areas. Multis will not be included unless they have a SoaM waypoint at the start location.

So we just need to add a ST1 at the posted coordinates if theres a container there. Would a night cache reflector be considered a stage or a virtual? Thanks

If there is a container or other object you placed, other than a firetack, please list this as a stage of a multicache. For firetacks and for anything that you didn't put there, list as a question to answer or a reference point. Firetacks/reflectors are a special exception to the proximity rule.

Essentially, if it is subject to the proximity rule, make it a SOAM. If not, make it a Q2A.

Dave, the cache Nathan Navigates West Allis is comprised of many waypoints, all of which are virtuals except the final. No tags, no markers, no waypoint containers. Do they really need to be recorded? I noticed that they are now on the LCG for multicache waypoints needed.
