Marie, That sounds like a great dinner! We eat well at our church events, but most of the cooks are not very adventurous. In the dim past, when we still had our Wednesday church ed program after school, we did do some themed suppers for the kids. Those were fun.

It's our International Buffet today at our church - 5 to 7 p.m. Yesterday we made chickpea curry, shrimp mango curry, kik alicha, doro wat, pasta primavera, brats and sauerkraut and peanut sauce. This afternoon we will make Spanish rice, basmati rice, injera bread and chai!

This sounds awesome. I wish our church was this adventerous.

Speaking of food.....I guess I shouldn't be surprised that buying a baker's scale at someplace like Target isn't going to happen, given my discovery of how little in the way of real flour the grocers carry nowadays. Hello Amazon! (sadly)

I did, however, discover a local place that sells home brewing stuff. Hoping to get there later today. Probably just for more info at this point. Apparently our lack of a gas grill with LP fuel is going to be a hold up, according to my brother.

Dog-sitting for the beast today. Daughter worked 7pm-7am shift last night and again tonight. Her fiancé worked 11am - 9pm then got called back to cover a sick call from 11:30pm - 8am. So I get stuck with the beast so that they can sleep.

To fascinated watching them and forgot to grab the camera. There was a lot of running around and stare downs. A spike and a 4-pointer so there wasn't much antler attacking.

Same response when we met a pair of wolves at Newport State Park. Just stared at them until they sauntered away. Camera was in my lap the whole time! Sometimes....that's just fine.

We wouldn't have been so surprised if we came across something like this in the woods, but in our backyard it was very cool to see. We have deer trails through our yard just like you see on the trails when geocaching. Deer and turkeys are regular visitors along with the usual small critters.

We're too in town to get cool stuff like that, though more than once, a bear has wandered through town only a block behind us.......in the wee hours of the morning. We hear the coyotes just to the east, we get owls, hawks and once a pheasant coming through our yard, but nothing cool.

I'm pretty sure that bear dens in the rough stuff a half mile east. The dog always gets spooked when I go down there and we pass this hillside with lots of nice denning opportunities. Could be the coyotes, too, I suppose.
