Interesting story about this property - (Opposition To Proposed Shooting Range, ATV Area At Old Ammo Plant Grows). I had the opportunity to visit this property a couple years ago and found it very interesting. The DNR says Badger land will be open for self-guided auto tours on August 24, and that a public comment period runs through August 30.

I had hoped to join a birding tour this spring through there but it didn't work out. They have some nice habitat for grassland birds, which is a shrinking commodity these days. I look forward to self guided exploration of the area.

I had a friend who worked there for years.

Never did figure how he didn't blow himself up.

We will be taking this road trip and maybe drop a few TB in GC9E5E.

We enjoyed the 15.2 mile drive and history of the old Badger Army Ammunition Plant today. I've lived across the street, and been involved with the Plant for about 15 years now. It will be great to see it open to the public in the future....lots of space for new caches, and hopefully without a power trail.

Jeff, Is it open for the autotour all the time now, or will that still be in the future? I'd have liked to join it today but there was supposed to be a family celebration, until someone complicated matters.

It was a very dusty drive, I felt bad for the idiots in the white convertible, NOT. No wildlife was observed except for a sparrow or three. Still, an interesting drive. Didn't drop the TBs either. Two well kept cemeteries in there though.
