Happy Valentines Day!!! Bonnie just returned from locating her "hidden Valentine" red ammo can with big white heart on it (a tradition we've had for years now. Inside was a copy of the book, and it looks really interesting. We'll be reading it.

I am half way thru it, great book.

We have several caches inside libraries down here. Most of them are stages to a multi or puzzle.

i finished the book this morning and did a short review on amazon. fun read, even if you weren't a cacher, but more if you are. one of the places mentioned is where the original fizzy is located. i also have to wonder if one of the minor characters was modeled after kablooey, the guy with the years long streak. he's in that caching community. we spent time caching with him in yosemite, and it kind of fits. thanks for pointing this one out, brian...exactly what this sudden couch potato needed!

Somebody needs to buy this book and then turn it into a travel bug when they're done reading it.

Thanks for all the positive comments, folks. FYI, there are four TB's themed on the book floating about. One for the UK, one for Aus. & NZ, and two for the US. I should have also done one for Canada. The two US ones are named Cached Out - West and Cached Out - East, with the division being the Mississippi River. I would feel delighted if someone decided to create more, so if so inclined, go for it. I thought someone might make a puzzle or multi cache based on the book, but so far as I know, no one has done so. Remember, I do provide a 10% discount to geocachers on the paperback if you contact me through the GC site.

I also finished reading the book and thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm waiting for my wife to finish her present book so she can read "Cached Out" and we can kibitz. Good mystery, and Jag and Sierra hope some geodogs make it into the next adventure.

According to Kindle, I'm 60% through it and I still have a ways to go.

I'm really into it and love it. Wish there were more books like this that refers to geocaching.

I'll give more of my feedback when I'm done with it.

Too bad the WGA site doesn't use SPOILER tags like other forums do so I can put down my thoughts without spoiling it for everyone.

Can you look into this, TBC?

I finished this book earlier this week and found it thoroughly enjoyable! It was much better than the novella Serial Cacher. The plot was very well done and involved enough twists and turns to keep a non-cacher interested. It might even get someone interested enough to check out this little hobby/sport/addiction.

It has also given me an idea/nudge at a puzzle I want to do. I like all the ciphers. Totally recommended by me! Very Happy

I started writing a geocaching-themed suspense novel a few years ago. I don't know why, but it's just one of those "bucket list" things I want to accomplish. Maybe I should pick up where I left off (at Chapter Two)... haha. I'm totally bummed, though, because my working title was "First to Find" and now I see that somebody else has written a novel with that same title! Grrr.

Here's the synopsis for my story:
"When a geocacher goes missing, retired detective Roland “Rollie” Schmidt, an active enthusiast of the outdoor hobby, is called to help investigate the mysterious disappearance. What he stumbles upon is a deadly game being played by a sinister serial killer who calls himself the Minotaur. One by one, geocachers are being murdered. Following enigmatic clues, Rollie relentlessly hunts the Minotaur, desperately seeking a solution to the Minotaur's Labyrinth puzzle -- a mysterious cache that may hold all the answers and lead him to the killer. When the game becomes personal, Rollie discovers the Minotaur's dark secret and his shocking identity. But is it too late to save the one he loves most....?"

Cached Out is now owned by the Waupaca Public Library, and is available for checkout by anybody with an OWLS account (OWLSnet is a consortium of public libraries in northeast Wisconsin).

That is, it will be available as soon as I finish reading it and turn it back in. First time I've had a FTF of a library book! I requested it's purchase as an addition to the library collection, the request was approved, and we picked it up today. Looks pretty good so far.

cYa, Jim

I bought Cached Out for my Kindle, and would be willing to loan it to another Kindle user. All I need is the email address you use for your Kindle account. The book can be borrowed for 2 week periods. PM me if you are interested.
