We'll be there with Bartrod in tow!
Don and I couldn't get snowshoes so it'll take us longer to hike to/from the caches. Hope that's not a problem. |

Usually, if you get a couple of people with snowshoes up front, the trail clears pretty quickly. |

Have not gone in from Atkins, but the other route passes through sedge hummock which provides a nice obstacle course of 'holes' that a foot will plunge down into, whereas a snowshoe will be more likely to bridge and stay afloat. Same can be said for a ~2" layer of crust; snowshoes may float atop, but boots will punch through, and then trip you up as you go to pull your foot out while walking forward (hmmmmmm.....walking backward might be easier for this problem.) Either way, with or without snowshoes, it will be a doable, unforgettable and fun adventure! |

It's been awhile since we "adventure cached". Other than dressing for the weather, water and snack, and bringing the GPSr...is there any ToTT we should have with us during the trek? Hiking stick/poles, etc? This way I won't worry about forgetting something or overpacking.
With what HP said, sounds likely we'll need some wardrobe changes when we done! |

Dress in layers that you can remove and replace. Multiple thinner layers that you can put in your bag when you get too warm are better than heavy coats. |

I am excited that the southerners have our own group caching trip planned but I kind of wish we didn't so that I could come along on this one. Have fun everyone! |

I always carry an extra set of snowshoes if they are needed. |
So if I need a pair, I can just borrow yours, right? |

Thanks for the info HP2. I'll let Lacknothing lead without her 'shoes cuz that's what good friends do. |

Sorry, did not mean to imply water....though words like 'plunge' and 'bridge' likely didn't help. Think CSI's log touches on it......more likely to give your knees and dupas unexpected workouts. A nice walking stick would be nice, just don't forget to leave it behind at GZ after the celebration! |
