Ok, time to recycle some questions from the past.
Candidates,
While enthusiasm alone will go a long way toward being a sucessful board member, your work experience and life skills are just as important.
What is the one, single most important qualification, experience or life skill that will differentiate you from other nominees? |

I live next door to my mother-inlaw. I know adversity and how to find "the happy place" in all situations.
True answer is: Flexibility.
Expect the unexpected and be ready to change, because that is the only thing that can be counted on. My 10 yrs as a volunteer youth leader for my church taught me that. |

20 years as a Naval Officer which included six deployments, Viet Nam, Cold War and Desert Storm. Leadership and management is my answer.

My experience can't even come close to what CommanderUSN has. However, I have experience with leadership in both a management and direct perspective. I have lead people in emergencies and while working to complete jobs for customers. In this aspect I consider the membership of the WGA as my customer. |

Personally, I would have to say leadership and direct connection to Leave No Trace.
Leadership- As a youth many years ago- Senior Patrol Leader for 4 straight years for Troop 16 in West Allis, WI (Troop size was 60 youth). As an adult, I led a Cub Scout Pack from decline to a solid pack. After Cub Master, I tool a troop of 3 and turned that program to a troop that has expanded nicely.
Direct Connections- As Wisconsin State Advocate for Leave No Trace, I have direct contact with the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics. With this direct connection, I will be able to help promote LNT within the WGA, aquire needed supplies at a heavily discounted price (Ex, geocaching hang tags), and turn that around to promote WGA in the Outdoor Ethics Community as a strong leader in Outdoor Ethic Awareness. |

In my past I have held leadership positions as a Boy Scout, Scribe, Quartermaster and Patrol Leader, attending Troop Leader Developmet, and being on the District Leadership Commitee in the SouthEast Wisconsin Council, As an adult leader of Cub Scouts of Pack 114, and Boy Scout Troop 114 in Rudolph, WI attending and volunteering at Crystal Lake Scout Reservation when the Pack attended Akelas World, and Troop attended Camp TESOMAS. Currently, I am a working Team Leader at Corenso North America. It's all in learning and knowing how to commnicate with everyone. |

I do have are a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you.
Appropriate movie quotes.
On a serious note, adaptability and composure. I'm good in a pinch and even volunteers who don't know me will listen when I bark. Just ask Averith. |

Being in a manger position within my job I'd have to say leadership and management. On a daily basis I'm in charge of a team and I'm one of the leaders of that team. Having to keep everyone working well together. Making sure everything we need is getting done in a timely and professional manner. |

I think that I'm pretty good at finding common ground between people. I think that I'd be able to talk to cachers who have ideas for improvement as well as talking with those who have been doing this a while and have insight as to why things have been done a certain way in the past. Sometimes compromise is a great tool, other times we need to make a decision to stay a certain way or make big changes. Either way I'm a pretty flexible person and I think that could be very helpful. |
