The Interstate Tug-O-War should be a lot of fun. The rest of this event is intended to be in the spirit of the WGA and the MnGCA working together but the tug-o-war will be all out Wisconsin vs Minnesota, MnGCA vs WGA, Packers vs Vikings, Gophers vs. Badgers... Be sure to wear your colors!
If anyone has ever participated in an "official" tug of war and is familiar with the rules, and would like to help out with the planning or running of this activity, post here or send me a PM. |

LMcGisme would be a great resource for this. She competes on a women's team. She would know al the rules and could also setup up a training schedule for us. |

Oh wait...
Maybe MnGCA is already in training.
Wayne, would you be willing to contact LMcGisme and see if she (I'm assuming "she" since you mentioned a women's team, but you never know) would be willing to either officiate or at at least point us in the right direction? |

Hell, I have seen those Minnesota people. They got some pretty big guys, but none as big as me. The team with the biggest anchor has gotta win.

I just heard from Lisa and she will work with TBC to see what she can do to help out.
I just know that she is going to have us doing pushups, situps, etc. |

I just saw this forum post. I pm'd Black Cat with more info, but would be happy to answer any questions here.
Wayne - Don't forget the squats and the running! You don't get to slide by on just push-ups and sit-ups. |

I think that I DO get to slide based on my senior status. Anyway, who said I was on the team? I would have to get those new spikes installed on my walker so that I could dig in!! |

Training camp opens on Snowman Burning Day (March 20th.)
Yes, mud should be involved. This IS a co-ed Event, right? |

The tug-o-war should be across the gorge that separates the the park! Loser takes a swim.
Ok, not really...let's be safe people. It's funny to imagine, though. |

For Wisconsin eyes only:
The Interstate campout is coming up soon, and I'm rooting for Wisconsin to beat Minnesota in the Tug of War competition.
In that spirit, I've uploaded a Tug of War basic skills manual to give Wisconsin a little advantage in the pull. It's written for schools/youth groups so is easy reading with lots of pictures (not a dry, technical manual). It illustrates the best body position to give yourself the most strength & power, the basic rules and commands, and safety tips.
I wish I could be there for the pull, but I'm relying on you guys to uphold Wisconsin's honor. |
