Well as of yesterday the water was nice and hard. Was kinda fun watching a California girl freak out when she heard the cracking on the lake as it made more ice. Am so not looking forward to tomorrow when she heads home |

We are now official volunteer members of the Wisconsin Frog and Toad Survey. We get to go out officially three times a year to identify and count frog/toad calls. The best part is that we get to plan and set up our own permanent route around here (we have guidelines), and we are supposed to use GPS technology to identify our ten listening locations. Think we can do that?
We have Route #12 for Adams County, so we can't use a hot spot for certain frogs that we know of in Sauk County near the roundabouts... |

Our "homework" has not led us to any Wisconsin amphibians that say "ribbit". There are two that snore, one that sounds like shaking balls in a spray can, and one that sounds like running a thumbnail across a comb's teeth. None say "ribbit".
We ARE aware of one species of Wisconsin frog that makes a sound like the arm of a slot machine being pulled, the tumblers spinning, and bells sometimes going off... |
