In addition to the eleven existing caches in the park a group of local cachers will be hiding 12-15 new caches in the park. They will be published before the event so you can load them in advance. |

Wow. When I visited the park for my 200th find 3 years ago, there was like maybe 3-4 caches. I found two, including the Pike Powder Hike. The other two I knew of were an earthcache and the bingo puzzle cache.
Good to see that park have more caches. |

The annual WGA Picnic is a fun social event, but for those of you who also need to satisfy your geocaching fix here is the rundown of what to expect at Pike Lake. There are currently 11 caches in the park including the oldest avtive cache in Wisconsin. Five area cachers have gotten together and hidden an additional 17 caches in the park that will be released a few days before the picnic. They vary in terrain and difficulty and will offer something for everyone. There will be family friendly hides including 2 large containers. Multis and puzzles for those who want a little more of a challenge. Unless one of the hiders broke the guidelines that I gave them there will be NO MICROS. Several of the caches are within short walking distance of the event and others will take you on hikes on the great trails in the park. |

Final count for new hides for the picnic is 18 to go with the 11 existing caches. There will be an interesting combination of traditionals, multis and a field puzzle. Some are unique containers and there are 2 large caches. NO MICROS except for stages of the multis. The caches will be released on 9/18 so will have time to check them out and choose the ones you want to try.
Thanks to the following caching teams for helping Sunshine and me with the hiding.

Looks like a little chilly but dry. Last year's picnic was pretty chilly too! Perfect for geochatting around the fire. |
