Greetings fellow Geocachers! My name is Lisa Daniels and I live in Greenville.
I want to say this was a bit unexpected, being nominated for the Board of Directors. Thank you to the anonymous persons who nominated me, I am honored.
For those who don’t know me, here is a little about myself and how our family got our geocaching start.
For Christmas 2005, I bought a GPS for my husband since I had heard a little about geocaching. I am not sure where exactly I heard about it, but the GPS sat in a box collecting dust for a long time. My husband, John, and son, Cody, went to High Cliff sometime in the summer of 2006. They accidentally found a geocache in a cave and were interested in trying to really find a cache with the GPS. They went to Hartman Creek on Labor Day weekend and tried in vain to make the GPS work. They apparently ran into some cachers who showed them how to work the GPS. When the boys got home, my daughter, Anna, and I heard all about their fun adventure. The next day, we printed off some sheets, and the rest is history! We logged our first cache on Labor Day 9/4/06. The boys had started their own identity, so I used the name that Anna called us from time to time – “Curly Girls”. If you have ever met us in person, you will know why she picked that name.
I love to cache, way more than my family sometimes. They call me their “geo-freak”, but they mean it in a nice way – at least that is what they tell me. Hubby knows how much I enjoy caching, and even indulges me in at least one “big” trip per year where we do nothing but cache for about a week where ever I pick. The kids have been known to go on a trip or two with Mom, as long as food, hotels with swimming are in the plan too!
It has been a longtime goal of mine to visit the 48 contiguous states, and maybe I will decide for all 50. Since we started just over 5 years ago, we have been caching in 35 states. I absolutely love to plan, travel, see things, adventure, and eat some good food along the way. One of my other goals was to complete the County and DeLorme Challenge for Wisconsin. In November, the kids and I made the final trip needed to do just that. The kids nearly thought I was done traveling the far reaches of this great State of Wisconsin, but they were wrong! I found out about the newer DeLorme Challenge - Part Deux. I figure, why not! There are some places I would love to see again!
Ok, I think that is enough about me - I could talk for hours about caching! I have gained a lot of experience in my 1800+ finds, and would love the chance to represent you on the Board of Directors.
If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to ask it here in the forum, or send me a PM. |
