- Event check in starts at 9 AM and ends at 11:30 AM. (Basically, you don't have to show up at 9 A.M. but you must arrive by 11:30 A.M. to claim the event as a 'find'.)
- The potluck picnic starts promptly at 12 noon. At that time we will have the grills ready.
- This is a family event, and all participants are requested to act accordingly.
- No pets are allowed in the Greenbush picnic area/shelter, but pets are allowed on most trails. Click here for more information on pet rules in the Kettle Moraine State Forest, Northern Unit.
- This event will be held rain or shine.
-
What to bring for the picnic: Your own meat to grill, table setting for you and your family (or guests), lawn chairs in case we run out of table space, and a food item to pass. Because everyone will be bringing food, please don't bring a large amount (enough to serve a group equivalent in size to your group is sufficient) as we want to minimize the amount of food that is left over at the end of the picnic. Also, the WGA plans to have donations of bottled water and some soda available. But at this point, we're not sure how much or what varieties of soda will be donated, so plan accordingly.
-
To ensure we get a variety of foods, please bring an item based on your last name, as shown below:
- Last name A-H: dessert
- Last name I-P: salad, fruit, and/or vegetables
- Last name Q-Z: chips, pretzels, and/or snacks
- For cache hunting: Be sure to bring your GPS receiver. If you don't own a GPS receiver, you can be on a team with others and find out what geocache hunting is all about.
-
FRS radios: If you have FRS radios, bring them along so you can communicate with each other efficiently. (taunting and cheering are also acceptable and encouraged); FRS channel 7 will be used. We plan to have the FRS repeater system going as well.
-
Group Photo: At the end of the day (exactly 5pm) we will be taking a group photo. All are encouraged to stay for the photo so that we can show what an awesome group of people we had attend our event!
