Preliminary Event Information: INTRODUCTION TO GEOCACHING
Geocaching has been described as a “high-tech treasure hunt” and is an outdoor hobby that people of all ages enjoy! It involves finding hidden treasure in parks and other public areas. If you have a GPS unit and/or laptop bring them along. WiFi is available! Two hour course includes: Using the website to locate caches, discussing different types and styles of caches, hands on experience in finding geocaches, tracking geocoins and travel bugs, logging your cache finds, and more. Go Geocaching will provide nine Garmin GPSs for temporary use if you don’t have one. Location: Meet in the YMCA Conference Room
Instructor: Ron Beatty, D.V.M.(a.k.a. Doctor Dolittle) from Go Geocaching.
There will also be a few experienced local geocachers giving a helping hand.
Date May 8th 2010 from 10am–12pm
Fee: $15 per family for YMCA Members and $20 per family Program Members
ADVANCED GEOCACHING
Have experience? You can still join the fun! There will be advanced courses, too. If you have a GPS unit and/or laptop bring them along. WiFi is available! The two hour course includes: Hiding great caches, designing cool cache pages, and paperless geocaching using GSAK software.
Location: Meet in the YMCA conference room.
