Preliminary Event Information: Geocaching Bash at the HUDSON HOT AIR AFFAIR (A Local Community Event). Geocaching will be one of many sponsored events at this years Hudson Hot Air Affair (HHAA), to be held on Feb. 1-3 in Hudson, WI.
Local Geocachers Da Bloodhound and Spike007 have placed 12 ammo cans (all stuffed full of goodies) throughout the Hudson area for all to find during the 3-day event. Most are family-friendly and many bring you to great places in and around Hudson.
Log sheets with event rules, cache names, coordinates and clues for the event may be obtained Friday morning through Sunday afternoon at any area M&I Bank, The Wisconsin Welcome Center, the Hudson Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Bureau, The Hudson House Hotel lobby or the HHAA headquarters at E. P. Rock Elementary School.
Several fine prizes will be awarded by drawing to qualifying participants of this event. Prizes will include certificates for dinner for two at local restaurants, weekend overnight accomidations at local hotels, some with Jacussi, and tons of HHAA merchandise. To qualify for the drawing just find a minimum of six caches, record the secret code word located under the container lid on your log sheet and then send it to the HHAA address provided and be post marked by February 10th to be eligible for the prize drawing.
Any and all geocaches that meet gc.com criteria will also be listed as official gc.com cache listings within a week or so of the event. Stay tuned to gc.com and the forums for an announcement regarding these. Once these caches have been approved feel free to write your “found it” log and claim a Smiley.
We will also be holding an informal Geocaching 101 session on Saturday (Feb. 2nd) at E.P. Rock Elementary School. The forum is slated to start at 10am. We will discuss some of the basics of geocaching, how to get started, and answer any questions. Log sheets for the event will also be available there.
In addition to this event DOC. will also be hosting a Meet and Greet coffee event at Paddy Ryan’s Pub near Hudson (Borderline Insanity: GC18JQC) on February 2nd from 9-11am.
