06/19/2015 at 8:14 pm #2040683Hello threadstealers! Sorry for the short notice, but looking for suggestions for tomorrow. There is a wedding near Manawa, and then a three hour gap until the dinner. What is there to do? Local websites tout snowmobiling and fishing, neither of which are happening for different reasons. Geocaching is not an option. I am the most outdoorsy of all going, and that is not saying much. We will be dressed nicely anyway. Movie times don’t coincide with the open time. It is too far to drive home and come back. The area is pretty rural. Ideas on how to pass the time?
06/19/2015 at 8:45 pm #2040684There must be birds there. Bring binoculars! I know, not what you’re seeking, but it’s my go-to. Hope you find something to help pass the time pleasantly.
06/19/2015 at 9:22 pm #2040685Happy Annniversary to Rod and his wife! How many years for you two?

06/20/2015 at 8:22 am #2040689Gripe for the day…..
We are contacted a lot by people for help with one thing or another. How to solve one of our puzzles. How to write a cache up. How to set up an event. Where to look for a cache we found and they DNFed. How to interest their kids in birds. And so on. We are more than happy to help out with any and all of these requests, and will take the time to share whatever it is requested.
Nine times out of ten, after that, that’s the last we hear. Whatever happened to Mom’s manners lesson….say “thanks?”
I’m done.
06/20/2015 at 8:53 am #2040690Funny, last thing I did before logging in here was to send an e-mail to thank another cacher for a hint they gave me on a cache I DNF’d that they found.

My “unscientific” observation. I think it’s still taught but not hammered in like our mom’s use to do it. My reason for this is I often would have volunteers come in and at the end of a session all I would have to say is “What do you say?” And they would use those magic words, “Thank You”. They often forget the phrase without the reminder but it appears to be something that’s right there and only needs a cue. It’s as though people assume you know that it’s appreciated. I think the job of “hammering” has fallen on the grandparent age generation.
06/20/2015 at 9:26 am #2040692When you actually find a surefire way to control what other people say, let me know! I’d love to sit and listen!
06/20/2015 at 10:00 am #2040693I don’t know if it’s related to the online nature of these communications, but if for no other reason than to assure us they got the info, a quick “TY” would be nice. It stopped raining here for the moment, so it might be time to leave the online world and go out into the yard, or look for birds, or…something!
06/20/2015 at 10:04 am #2040694It is fun to play with SPAMMER’s posts:
Nyshtong “Seeing the title, you may puzzle…….Hi I am a SPAMMER and WalkingAdventure is playing with my posts before he removes me with extreme prejudice! First he will mess with what I am sharing and then he will delete me and all of my hard work, like I never really existed. BooHooHoo”
Unfortunately, his work has been dissipated among the universe which is too bad because we will never know the connection between James Gordon Brown and Nike shoes.

06/20/2015 at 10:56 am #2040695I was really looking forward to learning about the connection between James Gordon Brown and Nike Shoes.

06/20/2015 at 11:17 am #2040696My first Saturday off in four months is going good. It is weird I actually have a wife. I hadn’t seen her in a while.
This is my first post here using my new tax deduction, iPhone.
06/20/2015 at 11:18 am #2040697I WAS going to go to the energy fair, but with this weather, I think I have to pass.
