Only 7 ticks in 90 minutes of cache maintenance! YUK!
05/03/2015 at 5:47 pm #2039464Happy Anniversary, CTQ! Any big plans for it?
Thanks. We just returned from a 3 day trip to Kohler and today we went on a road trip around Westfield and had brunch at The Haystack. Found the sadowskifamily Anniversary Cache, seemed like a fitting one. I was going to hunt for it after bc & I finished our Westfield list on Thursday. One less for my list.

I just got back from birding. Fifty-one birds in four hours on one trail on Goose Island is not too shabby. Funny thing…..I used to always see Barred Owls out there and still haven’t got a Barred Owl for LaCrosse county this year. I check this stand of pines every time I go there, as I’m told that’s where they roost. I found plenty of evidence of a roost but no sign of an owl. I was going back and forth between that and the edge of the island to look at a bunch of shorebirds. (We usually don’t get many here, but things are dry and there are a lot of mud flats.) While I was doing that, I could hear a couple entering the woods just a bit upshore and words to the effect of “have you found it yet?” Eventually they did. I’ll have to see who logs it. I thought it had been removed, but I guess not.
05/03/2015 at 9:14 pm #2039467Oh my…things are not good here in the Fox Valley tonight. A shooting in the trestle bridge area by Fritse Park…..with rumors of up to four dead and six injured. Sounds like two shooters….a bit close to home….

05/03/2015 at 11:02 pm #2039468Saw my first yellow headed blackbird today. Saw an amazing yellow and orange bird too but haven’t had time to look it up yet.
Tried to finish part of the OC&E trail today with our dogs. Needed 8 finds, got 6 with the two farthest from the car being DNF. One is a shotgun shell somewhere on the ground amongst rocks and scrub. Sigh. The other is – I have no idea which side of the trail because it is in the middle of the trail on the map – hidden in rocks with a clue “rocks”. In WI it would be like hiding a cache along a snowmobile trail through the woods and having a clue “tree”It’s already getting hot. It’s so dry, it makes it worse, parching heat.

05/04/2015 at 8:20 am #203947554 emails for finds this morning. Only one DNF in the bunch. Good logs too. Nice way to start my first day with no family.

It’s unreal. And there are three caches in that park. Cache owners should probably disable them as it looks like the park will be closed for a while.
05/04/2015 at 8:47 am #2039478There are many more than that Todd. The trestle itself hold that many. There are about 9 in the “park” I have disabled mine while not a part of the park it is adjacent and no need to cause a disruption.
Fritse Park and the Treste Trail are closed to all until further notice.

05/04/2015 at 9:22 am #2039480Definitely hits close to home, not because we live nearby but because we got to know Menasha and Neenah a bit more this past month, having been there twice to cache in that time.
