Replaced an old cache today that had completely disintegrated

I was so focused on that task I missed the fact that we parked next to one
Oh well, there are plenty more up the hill that we didn’t even try for today. Strong winds and driving drizzle at timesThe best sig is no sig.
02/08/2015 at 8:55 pm #2035319I just had a strange experience. I was writing up the cache page for one of the three new caches that I placed on the Mead Wildlife Area today, and when I hit Submit I got some error message. I hit Submit again and got the same message. So I started from scratch and reentered the whole thing. When I got done and submitted it, I went to my profile page and saw that I had created 3 caches with the same name, same coordinates, everything. So now I’m going to be hiding two more caches so that I can just edit two of the three “Rocky”s
All opinions, comments, and useless drivel I post are mine alone and do not reflect the opinions of the WGA BOD.

Guess that’s a good problem then when all is said and done!

02/08/2015 at 9:33 pm #2035322Been watching a D5 uphill from here, not far, but on lumber trails like northern WI. The dirt here is slick clay when it gets wet, which means thawed frost most of the time. Good to drive on when dry or frozen, not good for Tahoes (or Volts) when wet. It has never been found.
The CO is out of caching and notorious for purposely using bad but close coords to make things harder. I guess the negative reaction to this practice drove them out of caching and (in WI terms) left 100s of orphaned caches. I tried adopting one and never heard a peep from the CO.
Reviewers want to archive it. I think there are a couple guys in town that would be willing to make the trip to find it. I requested a stay of execution. Hope I get a chance, it is the only T3/D5 around.

02/08/2015 at 9:39 pm #2035323The verdict is in….I got a message from my son’s girlfriend that our granddaughter told her that “yesterday was the best day of my life!” Granted, she’s not quite five yet, but that’s pretty cool!

Interesting situation. But only one person with a DNF so I wouldn’t rule out completely that they just missed it.

02/08/2015 at 10:13 pm #2035326I am pretty sure we saw a golden eagle today. I should really learn more about birds, I especially like birds of prey. But this one was very close and it seemed huge as it soared over us. Very cool! GC341D3

My son was just telling me about the immature bald eagle he saw today. It swooped down in front of his car and grabbed a kittycat. He was close enough to be able to identify it as a gray cat with white paws.

Let us “paws” for a moment to remember this gray cat fondly….
